a tea to nourish your eyes
December 28, 2009
Chrysanthemum flower and goji berry tea is good for your eyes if you drink it on a regular basis. Chrysanthemum clears inflammation and heat from the eyes and goji berries are very nourishing to the eyes. The berries contain vitamin C, riboflavin, and are very high in beta-carotene. The Chinese name for goji berries is gou qi zi (Chinese wolfberry), one of the most important herbs for tonifying the eyes in the Chinese pharmacopeia.
TO MAKE THE TEA
Add 12 to 15 grams each of chrysanthemum flowers and goji berries (approx. 2 tbsp. flowers and 1 tbsp. berries) to just-boiled water and steep for at least 5 minutes. Drink one cup a day or more.
A good source for organic chrysanthemum is Sympathy for the Kettle:

For organic goji berries try:

You can also find goji berries at local health food stores and Whole Foods. It’s been more difficult for me to find organic chrysanthemum flowers, which is why I use the online source. You can easily find both non-organic chrysanthemum and goji berries in Chinese herb shops. They might be sulphured, though, in case you’re concerned about those things.
